I don't particularly mind if Alberta wants to sell ridiculous amounts of electricity to the US. Manipulating the government into secretly using government money to pay for electricity lines for the private sector and lying about it is undemocratic and not economically sound… Fail on all accounts.

When the City of Toronto released suspicious statistics for bike commuting in the city, a bunch of residents got together to collect their own and confront their city on the bogus statistics. This is great because 1) it shows a narrowing of the gap between representative government and citizens 2) it shows people not behaving like their at the mercy of government officials and participating cleverly and effectively.
